Yuck
I know I'm a vegetarian and I'm partially biased, but most people I know would find this disgusting.

VIP
Ran in the Cherry Creek Sneak yesterday for the fifth year in a row. It seemed more crowded than any other year. We did pretty well considering the swarm of people around us during the entire five mile run. I didn't see the "MILE ONE" marker this year, which I think is a very good thing. The first time I actually knew how far we had run was at the TWO MILE marker and I was relieved to know that I was almost halfway done. And on this fifth anniversary, we got a nice treat. Jessica was given a pass to VIP tent because her company was a sponsor of the race. We didn't have to wait on the lines for food - the VIP tent had everything and then some. I had some champagne and potatoes. It was great.

The Friday Five [courtesy of smattering.org]

1. What are your hobbies?
Running, snowboaring, collecting Pez dispensers, taking digital photos, calligraphy, writing, reading, collecting DVDs and CDs, puzzles, cryptograms and tons of other nerdy nerd things.

2. Do you collect anything? If so, what?
Yes, pez dispensers, CDs and DVDs. Oh yeah, and keychains.

3. Is there a hobby you're interested in, but just don't have the time/money to do?
Quilting. I think it requires a lot more time than I'm willing to devote.

4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity?
My grandmother used to teach a nursing class when I was in junior high. Whenever she had a graduating class, she'd have me do the calligraphy on the diplomas. I loved doing it and they usually gave me a few bucks. :-)

5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to?
I don't know if I belong to to any clubs per se. I am a member of PETA, Farm Sanctuary, Greenpeace, In Defense of Animals, National Anti-Vivisection Society, Animal Legal Defense Fund, ASPCA, etc.

Happy Mouth
Things were fine at the dentist yesterday. I had my teeth cleaned and searched and I'm good for another six months. I don't go back until October. It's weird to even think of October, but I know it will be here much sooner than I think. My dentist is so awesome - she was searching for odd growths and stuff and detected a little blister that I had given myself while brushing my teeth the night before. I wasn't brushing hard, but my hand slipped and I jabbed myself behind my lower lip. It's nice to know that they're that anal about keeping your mouth healthy. She told me to be more careful - and I said, I am careful, I'm just a klutz in everything I do. :-)

Happy Earth Day!
Unfortunately, I only enjoyed the earth for about an hour today. I worked for nine hours straight today. I only left my desk to visit the restroom and refill my water bottle. Crazy worker bee girl. I should have gone outside for at least ten minutes. But after work I went for a run and it was really nice out. And in other news, I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning and I don't want to. It's just the six month cleaning, but I just don't want to go. Bleah.

Stars and Quirks
I don't understand why stars demand all the things that they do. Yes, I can understand wanting your favorite foods and flowers backstage or in the green room, but there is one request that high-on-themselves stars make that I will never understand. That whole "No eye contact" thing. What is that? I just don't understand what is so horrible about making eye contact with people? Can anyone come up with a good explanation for this practice?

Shibby
Well, it looks like "Dude, Where's My Car?" is going to have a sequel. And I have to say, I'm not disgusted by this. I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would. In the words of my friend Brett:
"Heather, you're one of my smartest friends, but man, you like the dumbest movies."
I can appreciate both high-brow and low-brow humor, but if I had to choose one type of comedy for the rest of my life, I'd go with the low-brow. Sweet!

The weather has been so nice lately. I'm ready for summer. What's convenient for me is that I'm always ready for the next season. I get excited for everything. I'm a nerd.

The Kid Rock concert kicked much ass. I had no idea he was in town until the morning of the show. I was planning on going to the Rapids game on Saturday night, until my sister told me on Saturday morning that her friends were going to the Kid Rock concert that night. I was like, "What?" *said Joe Dirt style* and I immediately turned on my computer to look it up. I ultimately decided that I wanted to go, so Jon-Paul and I headed down to the Denver Coliseum to buy tickets. Lucky for us, they had just opened an area of seating that the band didn't need. The seats were great; we were very close. It was quite a show: fireworks, fire, confetti, strippers and a full-on trailer on the stage. He sounded fantastic, which surprised me. What also surprised me was how much Uncle Kracker did. I never realized how much singing and involvement he really has. Kid Rock played a ton of my favorites and kept on rocking for over 2 hours. I know some people hate him and think that he's vulgar - but I beg to differ. He's a very talented man who loves what he's doing. I surfed on over to the Kid Rock Web site and got myself an e-mail address. You can write me at: HeatherK@KidRock.com. Ha!

20% on the entire bill....if they sucked then 15%

Yes, I often get an appetizer, but I usually have no room left for dessert.

5. What do you usually order to drink at a restaurant?
Water, Pepsi, beer or iced tea.

There seems to have been another story about Time Travel this week. I have to admit, this experiment sounds really interesting, and I will be interested to know the outcome. I am, admittedly a SciFi geek, so I am really hoping that time travel does become a reality in the next fifty years.

Why do Saturdays go so fast? I feel like the day just started. Bleah. I wish the weekend was four days long; and the workweek was three. That is a better balance of days. :-)

Friday Five [courtesy of smattering.org]

1. What are the first things that you do in the morning to start your day?
Shower - can't start the day without showering -- ever.

2. What are the last things that you do at night before going to bed?
Write an entry in my physical diary. Brush my teeth and wash my face.

3. What daily routine have you recently added to your day?
Writing an entry in my [physical] diary every day. I was slacking off there for a long time.

4. What routine do you wish you get rid of?
Blow-drying my hair. It takes so long, but my hair looks awful if I let it air dry.

5. What's the one thing that makes you feel like something is missing if you don't do it some point within your day?
If I don't have my watch on, I feel naked.

Are they not the cutest ever?

Went to the Colorado Rapids game last night and they won! Yay. After the Rapids, there was an exhibition game between the United States and Mexico. U.S.A. won! Yay again. It was a bit cold, but it was nice to finally set foot in Invesco Field at Mile High. Took some photos (as usual) and hope to have them up on my Web site soon.

I'm tired. I'm not super-tired, but I have the yawns. I wasn't up that late last night. I was renaming the 140 or so photos that I took this weekend. I don't plan on posting all of them to my Web site, but I do plan on posting some of the good ones. They come off the SmartMedia card with a random jumble of numbers and I have to rename them with titles so I know what photo it is without opening it up. I then make copies of the photos and immediately save them to a CD. Ever since that damn virus changed every jpg on my computer to a vbs, I'm very careful about backing up my precious photos. And since they're all practically a MB each, I need to shrink them down in both dimension and size.

Saw three movies this weekend: AI, Life As a House and Training Day.

AI - Bad. I want those two-and-a-half hours of my life back. I was expecting something half-decent and I was very disappointed.

Life As A House - Great. Saw it in the theater and was happy to see it again. It's a well-acted movie that makes you think.

Training Day - Bleah. So many black actors could have done a much better job than Denzel. I like him and all, but he wasn't anything special or it wasn't the kind of performance I'd never seen before. It also seemed like Ethan Hawke's character was more the star than Denzel's. I was expecting much more after all of the Oscar hype.

So, all-in-all, I only recommend Life As a House. It's a tad on the edgy side, but I liked it a lot.

Spent Easter weekend in Texas with my parents. It was fun. It rained almost the entire time, so I got to watch movies and hang out with them and the puppies. Molly and Murphie are the cutest dogs on Earth! Molly has a lump on her jaw and it makes me sad. She seems to be as perky as usual, but I am scared that it will start to really hurt her soon. Why can't dogs live as long as humans? It would make the world a better place.
