They are acting funny. Sometimes they are there and sometimes they are not.
Sod, sod everywhere, but not a blade of green
The sod is still not doing so hot. But, I found out something that made me feel both a little bit better and a little bit worse. The folks up the street who had their sod installed on the same day as us have a lush green lawn. Jon-Paul and I thought that the sun hit their lawn differently than ours. Well, it turns out that they have been watering twice a day everyday and that is why their sod is looking so much better than ours. (We found out from a different neighbor.) What I don't understand is how they haven't been caught. I see those water-police trucks driving around all the time monitoring all the lawns. They must be really sneaky or they don't care about a $250 fine for watering on your off day. I'm so scared to get caught doing something like that because, first of all, I have bad luck and second of all, I don't want a $250 fine for every time that I water on any other days besides Sunday and Thursday.
I am very mad at myself for getting the sod. We should have waited. I shouldn't have been such a greedy jerk. I was just so tired of the erosion and the weeds and all the new people moving in and getting sod. Melody Homes has terrible customer service. They really do.

DeAnn and I just went to lunch. At first, we were at the Cheesecake Factory. The hostess asked for our party's name and said, "it will be just a moment." I'm not kidding, about five seconds later, she calls out, "DeAnn." We just lost it. We just started laughing. Deann likened it to that scene in "Meet the Parents" when Ben Stiller is the only person getting on the plane, but the flight attendant has to call by row numbers. It was too funny. And we ended up getting up and leaving because it was so weird in there.

Took Lucy to the dog park yesterday. She went right in the water. We even let her off the leash for a little bit and she was very good. We were kind of scared that she would run off and we'd have to chase her. Some of the bigger dogs spooked her, especially if they came running at her. She got less submissive as time went on. I think she had a lot of fun - she was definitely tired.

Live action. I just can't see it as a cartoon.

Dad- Robin Williams or Robert Deniro
5. Describe the movie preview/trailer.
I'm sitting around drinking Pepsi and petting puppies at the beach. :-)

Being a Vegetarian
Being a Vegetarian is easy. Every once in a while though, you find something out that you wish you hadn't. Jessica has been doing lots of food research for her job and came across the fact that one of our favorite burrito joints (Chipotle) uses cheese with animal rennet
. We were unaware that there were cheeses made with dead animals. We aren't vegans, but our Vegetarian philosophy is to not eat any product that required the slaughter or death of an animal. And in my mind, I always thought that cheese was made from milk and that was all there was to it. I was very wrong. There are enzymes in the mix. These enzymes are "taken from the stomach of killed calves." So, from now on, unless we are positive that the cheese is made with microbial or no enzymes, we will not eat it. So, over the past few days we've been calling around doing research and we learned that Taco Bell cheese is microbial and so is Del Taco. Yahoo! We can still eat our fast food bean burritos. And - we found this very odd- Pizza Hut uses microbial enzymes as well. I never really liked Pizza Hut all that much, but I guess I can try to. It's kind of weird that we never knew this all before. Now we're paranoid about cheese. Jessica put it this way, "Ignorance really is bliss."

Dummy Dumb Dumb
Well, I guess I shouldn't have signed that waiver. Our front lawn looks like cocky-doo-doo. We can't water more than Sundays and Thursdays because of the drought and it now looks like a field of hay. At least we don't have weeds and erosion, right? So, the sod might need replacing in the fall. *Maybe* it will come back, but I'm doubting it very much. What a bummer. I'm the idiot that pushed for it. Stupid stupid girl.

State of the Sod
The state of the sod is not good. I would say a little over half is doing okay, but they gave us some dead pieces. I mean, we're only allowed to water twice a week, they could have at least given us healthy sod to work with. ----ers.

Lucy in Black and White
She's pretty whether she's in color or B&W.
Grass is always greener...
When there's not a drought. We got a notice that our front yard sod will be installed tomorrow (Thursday). Hopefully it will start raining again soon. It was literally raining everyday when we signed the waiver, and ever since then, it hasn't rained once.

Lucy finally learned how to "give me your paw" last night. (To others, this might be "shake.") Maybe she is halfway smart afterall.

Kirsten and Karie
We got together with Kirsten and Karie yesterday and it was great. We hadn't seen them in about a year and there was a lot of catching up to do. They are both fantastic ladies and we always love seeing them.

So gung ho, now not so sure
Well, JP and I signed the waiver that allows the builder to finally install our front yard sod. It seemed like a good idea a few weeks ago when it was raining every afternoon, but for the past two weeks, it hasn't rained at all. Now I'm worried that when they install it next week, it's just going to fry.

Beware of the Crack Monkey dog
In general, Lucy is a very good puppy. But, occasionally, she gets the devil in her (and her name then goes from Lucy to Lucifer). It happens around 5:10pm each afternoon after I get home from work. She goes absolutely bonkers. Literally bouncing off the couches in the living room and family room, out the back door, around the back yard. She never makes the same lap twice, there are several variations on her crack-monkeyness each time. It's funny - but scary. I'm so afraid that she might really hurt herself, but she seems to have so much fun.

Mom, Dad, and Murphie
Mom and Dad got into town on Tuesday night. It is so great having them here. I really wished that we all lived closer to one another. Murphie does not seem to like Lucy all that much, but she is slowly warming to her. Poor puppy....she just wants to make friends.
Threw my inner AV Geek a bone
Today, Jon-Paul and I had our DirectTV installed. Oh, glorious day. Lots more channels for the same price as regular cable. Yay for us. Seven HBOs. Holy cowbells.
