Mr. Cornell

There is just something about Chris Cornell's voice that I absolutely love. It makes me melt (in a good way).

Remembering the Challenger

Today is January 28th. I always remember this date because 19 years ago, I was at Randy Steigelmeier's birthday party when the Challenger exploded. It's a weird association that I never forget. I've long since lost touch with Randy, but that bunch of 11/12 year old girls were really bummed.

To all the snooty Beee-yatches...

I am going to keep smiling at you until you smile back. Why do you scowl? Life's too short to be a snooty beeyatch and I will use goodwill to make you realize that.

Poor LuLu

Lucy and Hudson play pretty rough. I guess during some of this play, Lucy's two dewclaws were broken. She only has them on her front two legs. But one day I noticed her licking at them and then the next day they were sticking out at odd angles. *cringe* Now they have fallen off. My poor little puppy is a disaster area. I wonder if I could get a deal on having her dewclaws and tail removed? :-)

I'll Take My Yoga Lukewarm, thankyouverymuch

Got a whim to try a hot yoga class. It was 90 minutes long and really really hot. I really really didn't enjoy it. I *love* doing my yoga DVDs, but something about the hot yoga class didn't feel right. Maybe the fact that I almost passed out. The vibe in the room was kind of negative.

I think the root of it is that I really prefer to workout by myself. I don't like being in a class environment. I think that is part of it. The other part is that the yoga wasn't as interesting and/or challenging as my DVDs. I actually thought it was boring and when we were 45 minutes into it, I couldn't believe I still had another 45 minutes to go.

Upturn

I'm hoping that I'm on the upturn from the crappity dappity hole I was in last week. I had a horrible week...no, it had nothing to do with my birthday. And it culminated with me getting home last Friday and the house being oddly cold. I looked, and the thermostat said 57. Yeah, the heat wasn't coming on. Called the company several times that night, but no one showed up. Finally, on Saturday morning at like 6am, we got a call. The house was down to 51!! I know that doesn't sound that cold in general, but when its your house..it's frickin' freezing. I was actually encouraging the dogs to sit on me. :-) Turns out the ignitor was broken. It was under warranty, but it still cost $120. Nice how that works, huh? Nothing super crappy has happened since then, nothing fantastical either, but I'm totally okay with that.

Papa Roach - Scars

I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut
My weakness is that I care too much
My scars remind me that the past is real
I tear my heart open just to feel

Drunk and I'm feeling down
And I just wanna be alone
I'm pissed cause you came around
Why don't you just go home
Cause you channel all your pain
And I can't help you fix yourself
You're making me insane
All I can say is

[Chorus:]
I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut
My weakness is that I care too much
And our scars remind us that the past is real
I tear my heart open just to feel

I tried to help you once
Against my own advice
I saw you going down
But you never realized
That you're drowning in the water
So I offered you my hand
Compassions in my nature
Tonight is our last stand

[Chorus]

I'm drunk and I'm feeling down
And I just wanna be alone
You shouldn't ever came around
Why don't you just go home?
Cause you're drowning in the water
And I tried to grab your hand
And I left my heart open
But you didn't understand
But you didn't understand
Go fix yourself

I can't help you fix yourself
But at least I can say I tried
I'm sorry but I gotta move on with my own life
I can't help you fix yourself
But at least I can say I tried
I'm sorry but I gotta move on with my own life

Cool Ass Song

It's cool that he re-did this song.

Colin Hay - Overkill Lyrics

I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications

Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know I'll be alright
Perhaps it's just imagination

Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away

Alone between the sheets
Only brings exasperation
It's time to walk the streets
Smell the desperation

At least there's pretty lights
And though there's little variation
It nullifies the night from overkill

Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Come back another day

I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications

Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know I'll be alright
It's just overkill

Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away x3

Goals for 2005

I'm not a New Year's Resolution type of person. I've never made any and I don't know if I ever will. But I am a goals-oriented person. So, I'm going to start a goals list for myself and add to it over the next couple of weeks.

1. Read more books for fun.
2. Train Hudson.
3. Get in the best shape of my life.
3a. Do yoga at least 3 times a week.
3b. Lift weights at least three times a week.
4. Get new carpet/add more wood floor to the house.
5. Decide what kind of car I want.
6. Write more.
7. Make the garage more organized.
8. Find a couch for the computer room. (that fits)
9. Take Calcium pills on a regular basis.
10. Clean out the junk drawer.
11. Stop worrying so much about what people think.

more to come.....

Hits and Misses

Yesterday, on my drive in, I was turning into the parking lot at work and my car kept on going straight. So, I hit a curb and a tree. The impact wasn't too bad with the tree. It cracked my bumper, but only because it was so cold. My front tire didn't fare as well. My rim got all screwed up. The extremely super-cool Ric and Gordon came to my rescue. They helped push my car off the curb and even got my tire fixed during lunch! I can't even begin to explain how lucky I am to work with such awesome people. My car seems to be driving just fine now.

On the way into work today a deer darted out in front of my car. I was far enough away from it to slow down and have a good look. They're so majestic. Somehow in my weird hippie-ish way, I feel like that is a good omen for something. Or, I hope it is. You can never have enough good luck in your life.
