In other news...
The tiles are done! [Photos tomorrow.]
And the Great American Beer Fest
is four days away. (The session I'm attending, anyway.) This will be my 9th year
in a row. 1,669 beers on tap, four hours.
The Sound of Your Own Wheels
I'm feeling better. I've been doing nothing but "takin' it easy" for two days straight now. It has most definitely made a difference.
And I heard from the doctor today and everything is cool. But, oddly enough, it turns out that what I had was not a fibroid. Are you ready for this? It was a:benign mesenchymoma
Yeah, who knows. It's something REALLY REALLY REALLY rare. How rare, you ask? So rare that the doctor didn't know much about it, the pathologist had never seen one before, and I can't find much about it on google. All I can tell is that in 75% of cases it's malignant and I'm VERY lucky that mine was benign.
Life is crazy.

Icky Ka Ka
Today has been a crappy recovery day. I feel like I have no control over my body and I hate it. Very much. I feel disgusting. I want to go for a run. I want to do an hour and a half of yoga. I want to lift weights. I want to kick and punch. I want this to be all done and I want to be normal again. I know it's only a week tomorrow, but I'm going crazy. I know I'm being a complainer, and I'm sorry. Stupid Fibroid.
Random Halloween Thought
If I wasn't already hell bent on being something cutesy/girly for Halloween, I should totally be my fibroid. :-) Sooooo kidding. (Mostly.)
Saw this link
blog, and it was just too cute
to not share.
Somehow, I think Pibb
is going to really enjoy this link. :-)

For those with a strong stomach...I present my innardsWARNING
- This is pretty gross, as essentially, this is my guts.
Here is a link to Mr. Fibroid
Friday FiveDo you have a dream you will always strive to achieve until your dying day?
To experience blissful happiness.Do you believe in fate or free will, or something else?
I believe in both. Marilyn Monroe. Conspiracy or tragic accident?
Yeah, I'm not too sure. Oddly enough, Jason and I were discussing this the other day on a walk. I'm gonna go with the easy answer and say both.Favourite childhood sweets/candy?
Man, that's a hard question. I liked everything. Still do. Probably Pop Ice or candy corn or Nerds.Favourite cocktail (alcoholic or virgin) and it's ingredients?
Lately I've been a Stoli-Orange and Soda drinker. But, I'd say my favorite is Coors Light bottles.

Alive and Kickin'
Hello! I had my surgery on Monday and I'm doing well. I had to have the bigger one, so that means that they cut me open. BOOO! But, they had to do what they had to do. It turns out that the fibroid was bigger than they thought and wrapped around other parts...but I won't get too detailed. Needless to say, in order to get it out neatly, they had to go for the big cut. I'm doing well, but I'm totally bummed that I'll be laid up for about 2 weeks. It's so weird to not be able to do normal things. I'm a work-out-aholic so it's going to kill me that I can't work out for like 4 - 6 weeks. Stupid fibroid. :-) At least down the road I'll have a scar HNT to share with everyone. Ha ha ha ha.
Since I'm not really up for taking an HNT of myself I'm going to use one that I took of my friend Mike. (Hopefully he won't mind, since it shows off one of his best assets--his HUGE biceps!)

About Mr. Fibroid (Probably a TMI post)
Yeah, so, I found out I have this fibroid that's set up shop on the outside of my uterus. They're a genetic thing and typically not too dangerous. It's just when they get too big, doctors want to get them out and mine is something like 8cm and totally crowding out my ovary. Lucky me. So, tomorrow they're going to try and remove it laproscopically, but if it's hanging on in a weird way, they'll have to slice my stomach open and cut it out. I'm really hoping for the former. That means more like one week recovery as opposed to two.
I'm not too worried about it being something bad, but it's honestly in the back of my mind. Mom's flying in to accompany me, which totally rocks. And I'm not one of those women who will freak out if it turns out that they have to take out all my girl parts because I never really wanted kids anyway.
Hopefully, I'll be up and about after a couple of days and all will be well. But in the meantime, I won't be out here to update for at least a few days. I *will* be going nuts lying in bed because well, it's just not like me to sit around. Must. keep. moving. Doing. crap. If I'm lucky I'll be back to normal way sooner than I think. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
I'm gonna go show my fibroid who's boss! (And it ain't Tony Danza!)P.S. THANK YOU to all of the well-wishers who made comments about the surgery on my HNT or in their own blogs. It really warms my heart and I sooooo appreciate it. YOU ALL KICK MAJOR ASS!
And it's been a TILE since I could say....
It's coming along....grout should be going in by Thursday I'm guessing...

Yeah, so this is probably a bit of a daring pic for me, but doesn't show more than a bikini. Thing is, I'm going to have a bit of surgery on Monday and they're gonna have to cut below my belly button and on my bikini line so I thought I'd preserve its current scarless state in a photo.

Back to the Halloween Costume Thang
I haven't hit any of the Halloween stores yet. (Are they even open?) But every once in a while, I'm still thinking about what I want to be. I like the Camper
about halfway down that page. I don't want to order anything because you never know how cheezy/flimsy it will be. But I don't want to wait til the last minute like last year...but I am the perpetual procrastinator, so who knows. I just love Halloween so much and get giddily excited when I see Halloween crap in the stores. I am 12 years old. Always and forever.

My carpets were torn out today. The house
looks very strange.
"I can't be sure that this state of mind, is not of my own design"
Oy. Having a rough day.

Michele, you are in my thoughts today.
"Yeah! You ain't cool, unless you pee your pants!""Well, "sorry" doesn't put the Triscuit crackers in my stomach now, does it Karl?"
Ahhhh, Billy Madison is on TV right now. I can't even explain how much I love this movie.
Tomorrow is the day that the transformation from dirty, doggy carpet to easy-to-clean tile
begins. The carpets will be ripped out tomorrow and some wonder board will be put down. The house will probably look really weird when I get home from work. Hopefully within a week, everything will be done. I'm excited.
Since I'm having this tile installed, I can't have the dogs this week so they came over for a little visit today -- I hadn't seen them in over a week. It was really nice to see their royal cutenesses.

I Can See for Tiles and Tiles
So, I picked out the tiles today that will adorn 650 sq ft. of my house. I know, it's a little weird, but with the dogs, it was really all I could think to do to not go insane from their hair and their accidents. I can't wait for the old stanky carpet to come up. Looks like I'll have a tiled house in the next week and a half. Woo hoo. I am psyched.

This afternoon (from about 1pm to 3pm) was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous out. Nice temperature, nice breeze, pretty colors everywhere, semi-clear view of the mountains. Yum.
I rode in an old old old VW van today at lunch. Hippie bus!
I drove straight into a rainbow. I've always been near them, but I've never drove through one. It was surreal and freakin' cool. And I don't know what it is, but I've seen a million rainbows in the past three weeks or so. Hope it's a sign!
And everyone got a good chuckle out of my ginormous feet.
Dorkin' Out! (for Dorky Tuesday)
Not sure if this is 1990 or 1991. I am on the right.
Check out the tightly rolled jeans and the fact that I have no socks on with my fancy Bass shoes. Could I have hiked my pants up any higher? My clothes are gigantic -- I can't believe I wore things so large. That has to be an XL men's polo. I've also got a bit of the Long Island hair goin' on. Yikes!

The great path of the moon is changeTaken from "Dancing Moons" by Nancy Wood (a *fantastic* book that my Mom gave me when I graduated high school.)
Fate and opportunity often look alike. So do generosity and guilt. The place where these four friends meet is called life. You must make the most of your life
. To do less is to fail yourself.
No one else is to blame for your indecision or mistakes. Everything comes from the courage of experience. You can't catch sunlight by staying indoors.
You can't recognize quality if you settle for imitation. If you are not in the right place, leave. If you are not doing work that matters, quit. If life is not what you want it to be, change.
If you are surrounded by false friends, trade them for new ones, the quiet, steady kind. If something nags at your heart, open it up and have a look
. What you find there may surprise you.
How do you become strong?
Throw your importance away. Make friends with trees. Sing a song with a mourning dove. Crawl along the ground with a snake. Do push-ups with a lizard. Learn the language of squirrels. Decipher the meaning of old stones. Find wisdom in a baby's eyes. Look at an old man as if he were new.
Change means growth. Growth is necessary for trees and other living things. Without growth, nothing would be harvested, except doubt.
Best Line from Last Night
"Are you guys like twin twins?" -- super drunk guy whose friend had just fallen flat on his face in the middle of 15th and Lawrence Streets.
