What is something that makes you laugh regardless of how many times you hear it/see it/read it?

One of mine, is this little cartoon:

On this Cold Night in Colorado...

I am warmed by summer memories and my love of Coors Light.

(Ric joined flickr and uploaded his set of photos from our July trip to Glendo. I hadn't seen this batch. Winter hasn't even started and I'm ready for it to be summer again.)

High Quality H2O

I think I'm drinking the right amount of water, because I've gone to the bathroom about 4,000 times today.

Yay for good health. Boo for contantly having to pee.

Nice post here, Happykap. You're about as interesting as toilet paper.

The Lazy Girl's Roundup Post
  • All the driving is over!
  • Kansas sucks my ass.
  • There was gas in the Oklahoma City area for $1.87.
  • Lucy is doing much better!
  • I have not done *any* Christmas shopping yet. Nor do I have any ideas. Or money.
  • I love pickles.
  • And grapefruit.
  • Going to bed at 9:45pm one night was one of the smartest things I did while in Texas.
  • Did you know that Wichita is the abortion capital of the U.S.? I didn't either. But the billboards said so.
  • My phone died while I was in TX. One Verizon store sent me to another Verizon store and the gave me a whole new [refurbished] one for $50. Security people were there scoping out the joint, because two days later, Mr. Kanye West himself was going to make an appearance. At a Verizon store? In Arlington? Crazy Texans.
  • There's a country song we heard while driving down, that had the line, "Tequila makes her clothes fall off."
  • Hudson and Lucy are really good on long car rides. Especially when they get Burger King hamburgers on their dinners.
  • Five dogs in one house is A LOT.
  • Lucy has turned into a bitch toward other dogs.
  • Hudson is all about food, flickering lights, and sitting on you.
  • Dial-up access to the internet makes you want to stab forks in your eye.
  • I finally started reading Snow Crash. So far, I like it.
  • I really really want to be on a beach.
  • I really really need to come into a large sum of money.
  • I ran/walked in Texas. I haven't worked out in like four weeks. Got sore.
  • Hopefully this will motivate me to start working out again. I'm getting soft and flabby and my clothes are fitting funny. Lard ass.
  • Thinking about not putting out my Christmas tree, because it will involve roping it off from the pups....and I just don't think I have it in me.
  • I need a dress for the holiday party.
  • I am so loving my new bed.

Happy Thanksgiving

Sorry that I've been MIA for the past few days. Did the loooooong drive down to Texas to visit the family. (No, we're not from here - Mom and Dad moved here a few years back for Dad's job.) It's still weird to go "home" to Texas. I've been catching up on some sleep and hanging out with the 'rents.

There are four dogs running around the house at all times, it's absolutely insane. Today we added a fifth as Joe (Jessica's friend from college) has joined us for Thanksgiving. So, five dogs - four of which are around the age of 2 years. CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY.

I know the parade is on and everything, but it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving at all. It's weird.

Hope everyone has a great one and that there's plenty of alcohol on hand! :-)

New Bed

I'm now officially an adult, because I have matching bedroom furniture. I had to put the bed together --- there were no directions included, but I eventually figured out what needed to get done. I'm really really liking it.

And even though I don't really have the money - I think I need to go find myself a new comforter set and pillows! :-) Hee hee.

New Bed!

On Sock Swallowing

I know I'm harping on it, and I'm pretty sure this will be my last post about it - but how do you swallow a WHOLE sock? I bet you're curious what this is costing me - and let me tell you - A LOT! A lot more than I have. A lot more than I anticipated. A lot of money I could have used to finally go on a vacation after not having been on one since June 2000.

Life can be a bitch like that, huh?

I think most normal dog owners would not spend this much money on a dog. It's us dog lovers that get screwed. I really hope I'm not being taken advantage of and I hope the expense doesn't kill me and Jon-Paul. (Thankfully, we're splitting the cost, since we share custody of Lucy.)

She's doing well and I will most likely be able to bring her home tonight. Yay!

P.S. I'm not gonna post the price here, but if you're that curious, e-mail me and I'll tell ya. But, you better be sitting down.

P.P.S. Yeah, glad I bought the furniture *last* week, because believe me, if it wasn't already paid for, there's no way I could be getting it now.

P.P.P.S. Oh, I never drinky drinkied last night. I was in bed by 9:15pm. Me=big fat loser.

Today so far, I have...

Drank three liters of water.
Chewed an entire pack of Dentyne fire.
Found out I can't take Lucy home tonight.
Had a good hair day.
Been freezing my ass off at my desk.
Contemplated a little drinky drinky tonight.
Thought about being on a beach.
Listened to a lot of Jack Johnson. (not like me)
Stewed a little.
Completed a nightmare project that I've been avoiding at work
Balanced my checkbook.

I'm so loving this song this morning

I think it's because I want someone to feel this way about me. :-)...or I'm just a super laid back white girl. ;-)

"Banana Pancakes" - Jack Johnson

Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside...
But Baby, You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Ill make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now

And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside

But just maybe, laka ukulele
Mommy made a baby
Really don't mind the practice
Cause your my little lady
Lady lady love me
Cause I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there's no world outside

And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Aint no need to go outside
Aint no need aint no need Mmmm MMmmm
Cant you see cant you see
Rain all day
And I don't mind.

The telephone is singing
Ringing its too early
Don't pick it up
We don't need to we got everything
We need right here
And everything we need is enough
Just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Don't really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, yeah wake up slow
You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Ill make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now

And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
Aint no need to go outside
Aint no need, Aint no need
Rain all day and I really really really don't mind
Can't you see cant you see,
You gotta wake up slow

Funky Funk

On the Lucy Front:
Got a call this morning from the vet on duty that Lucy was doing much better. They lowered her pain medication, which was making her kind of zombie-like. She was wagging her tail and jumping a bit when someone comes near her. Yay...LuLu is coming back online. They were going to try and give her some food today, but she is still naseous. Poor thing hasn't eaten since Thursday. I guess a sock and some other crap will really put a stop to any hunger, huh? SERIOUSLY, HOW DO YOU EVEN SWALLOW A WHOLE SOCK??

On the HappyKap Front:
I spent the entire day Saturday worried about her and analyzing my entire life.
I'm still very worried about Lucy, but feeling a little better about her status.
I have to make some changes in other aspects of my life.
I'm insomniatic again.
I haven't worked out in forever and I'm getting groadily flabby.
I'm going to have to cash a lot of stock in to cover furniture and surgery.
My apathy is gone....I'm feeling everything.
--->which both sucks and is cool at the same time.

So Much Suckage

This last week was not a good one. Today (Saturday) was the rancid icing on the suck cake. Lucy was acting funny and puking all over the place so I took her to the emergency vet this morning. After some x-rays it was determined that she had something foreign in her stomach and a few obstructions in her bowels. Surgery was necessary. Then she had scary test results -- which were [thankfully] due to sketchy test equipment. So, that was absolutely frightening news that turned into [relatively] good news.

The vet called me around 10:30 tonight to tell me that they pulled out a 2-foot long sock from her stomach and bunch of other things from her intestines. Apparently they saved the removed objects and put them in a bag so I can see them when I visit her on Sunday morning. She seems to be recovering well, and I'll get another status update around 6am tomorrow, errrr, today. I won't even tell you what this is costing, because I think most would think I'm insane for what I'm spending. She's my little puppy girl, I can't not.

My poor poor little puppy. I'm glad that I took her in this morning. Not glad that it ended in surgery. Seems to be my luck this year....go to the Dr. - get sent for emergency surgery. It's like she and I are E.T. and Elliot. "Ouuuuuuuch."

This has probably been the worst/hardest year of my life. Hey 2005 Gods, enough already.

Friday Five - 'Jumping the Shark'

1. Have you ever been to the ocean?
Yes, I grew up 20 minutes from it.

2. When is the last time you wore a swimsuit?
Probably September sometime when I went to Cherry Creek.

3. Do you respect people more for staying through difficult times or knowing when to call it quits?
You know, it really depends on the situation. I think it's important to know which route to take.

4. Name a TV show that made a huge splash in the beginning, but has since gone downhill:

5. Have you ever eaten shark?
Nope. And I never will. I'm a Vegetarian.

Shit and Shit

How can so much diarrhea come out of one dog? I know how much goes in, I don't understand why so much more comes out??? And how does he always get it centered in the grout?

I've had them back two days and already I'm tired of cleaning the poo. They're lucky that they have puppy dog eyes.

The Dogs are Back in the Hiz-ouse

Lucy and Hudson are back with me through Thanksgiving weekend. The house already has 77% more dog hair and smells of Del Taco french fry dog farts. (Yeah, I feed them french fries - but only when they look at me with their cute doggy faces.)

Bought myself a new bed. (and nightstand, and dresser, and armoire.) It's going to arrive in 2 weeks. Woo hoo. Here's is what it looks like:

Can I afford it? Not really.
Do I need it? Yes. Considering my mattress is currently on the floor.
Does it freakin' rock? Yes.
Will I be cashing in stock tomorrow to pay for it? Most likely.
Will it be weird to have actual matching bedroom furniture? Yes.
Do I wish I could have it today? Yes.

The Dumping of the Dew

After being given the lovely gift of a gigantic fountain Mountain Dew, I put it in the cup holder of my car. The holder was not large enough to accomodate all that Dew-ey goodness and when I made my first left turn, over a liter of soda poured into the driver's side floor of my car. And down my leg.

I wanted it so bad. It was gone in an instant.

My kharma has now balanced out --I am now Even Steven. Find $20, and then lose precious Dew nectar. It's a total draw.
