Friday Five

1. How will you be ringing in the New Year?
Probably staying in, as usual. (I kind of prefer it to going out.)

2. How do you wish you were ringing in the New Year?
As a millionaire. ;-) I'm not big on New Year's Eve so just relaxing sounds good to me.

3. Do you have any traditions that you observe on New Year's Day intended to bring you luck for the upcoming year?

4. Do you make resolutions? Do you keep them?
I don't make resolutions.

5. Would you ever have plastic surgery?
In general, no. But in the case of disease or disfigurement from an accident, absolutely.

Beee-you-ti-full Day

I just went on an hour and ten minute walk. It was supposed to have been a 45 minute run, but I decided to walk instead. (Because it's been a loooooong time since I last went for a run.) At least I got my ass out of the house. :-)

I love gorgeous days like this during the winter. Ahhh, the symbolism.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah!

Hope everyone has a good one. So far, "my solo Christmas" has been good. Watched movies, been hanging with the pups, had some chocolate. Just cracked a bottle of wine. Now, I'm going to finally shower and then watch some more movies!

Mo' Movies

Started to watch The Edukators last night, but finished it this morning. Movies are taxing when you have to read them. (Just kidding!)

The Edukators (Fetten Jahre sind vorbei, Die)- German. Subtitles. Good. Enjoyed the characters and the story. Scenery was gorgeous. I think I prefer German films to French ones. I don't want to make a generalization about German chicks, but the girl in this was super cool. I liked her, so believable, so real. Kind of a less actor-ey Claire Daines. Germans like to smoke a lot, and drink a lot...just like the french. They enjoy their weed too. :-)

Fantastic Four - American. No subtitles. ;-) Big Hollywood film, but it was fun. Worth seeing. And you can walk around your house and do stuff because you don't have to read the subtitles.

Today's Viewed Films

Must Love Dogs - American. Good Cast. So-so movie. I liked that he made sculls. (The former rower in me.) And I just love Diane Lane.

Happily Ever After (Ils se marièrent et eurent beaucoup d'enfant) - French. Subtitles. Good. Interesting characters and storylines. Well acted. Funny, sad and true-to-life. French people seem to really like sex and cigarettes. Almost made me want to go out and buy a pack of smokes.

Après Vous - French. Subtitles. Different. Quirky. Funny parts, but moved kind of slow. In this film, French people really seem to like wine and cigarettes.

About to watch....The Edukators (Fetten Jahre sind vorbei, Die)- German.

HappyKap's Super-short Reviews

Rented nine movies today to watch over the course of the next two days. Watched two of them this evening:

Happy Endings - Liked it. Thought it was interesting. Liked the little notes on the side.

Dirty Love - A Jenny McCarthy flick. In general, I think she's a cool-ass chick and thought I'd give it a shot. The movie was okay. Story was dumb, but there were a couple of laugh-out-loud scenes. She is so not afraid to be a total goofball - I love that!

Friday Five

1. Do you have any holiday plans?
No. This is going to be my first Christmas home alone. Should be interesting. I rented a bunch of movies to watch and I might even go to the movies.

2. Will you be traveling?
Nope. Despite the sadness it's causing me to not be with my family, I have enjoyed avoiding the stress of traveling.

3. What is the worst thing about this time of year?
The traffic.

4. Do you have any favorite holiday foods?
I love Mom's cookies, treats, ziti, and mashed potatoes.

5. Is it a Christmas tree or a holiday tree?
Christmas tree.

Little Lucy Puffy Eye

My little furry problem child came into my computer room with a big Rocky Balboa-looking puffy eye. So, it was off to the vet again for me. And the Vet gods were good to me this time....$97. And the puffiness had subsided within hours. Poor little girlie.

(Forgot to mention that last week while JP had her, one of her back toenails broke.'s all red and she's on anti-biotics for that.)

The Hardest Part - Coldplay

And the hardest part
Was letting go not taking part
Was the hardest part
And the strangest thing
Was waiting for that bell to ring
It was the strangest start

I could feel it go down
Bittersweet I could taste in my mouth
Silver lining the clouds
Oh, and I,
I wish that I could work it out

And the hardest part
Was letting go not taking part
You really broke my heart
And I tried to sing
But I couldn't think of anything
And that was the hardest part

I could feel it go down
You left the sweetest taste in my mouth
Silver lining the cloud
Oh, and I,
Oh, and I,
I wonder what it's all about
I wonder what it's all about

Everything I know is wrong
Everything I do it just comes undone
And everything is torn apart
Oh and that's the hardest part
That's the hardest part
Yeah, that's the hardest part
That's the hardest part

I've Been Tagged

I was tagged by MG to complete this little meme.

Here are the rules:

The first player of this game starts with the topic. Five weird habits of yourself.
People who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don't forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says You Are Tagged (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.

My five weirdnesses:

1. At the end of my shower I rinse the conditioner out of my hair. Once it is all rinsed out, I lift my hair up and wash my shoulders, upper-back and chest with soap to make sure any of the oil from the conditioner is off my skin. This habit stems from a girl in high school who told me I'd get zits on my back if I let conditioner sit on it.

2. I eat M&Ms in twos. And two of the same color if possible.

3. I must always have backups of everything. Tide, candles, cases of water, etc.

4. I always smile like this in photos. Right, Will?

5. I always need something sweet after a meal.

Now, I tag Will, Dweleg, Snav, Kristi and Furzl.

Meetin' a Fellow Blogger

Yesterday afternoon I met Kristi for some drinks. It was sooooo cool to meet someone that you've known online. She was awesome, but she sure got an earful from me. I was exceptionally chatty. :-) Thanks for meeting up with me, Kristi! :-) Let's do it again soon.

5. When is the last time you said goodbye?
Last night when I left Amy's house.

Tequila - there's a reason I stay away

Went to the Rio last night and had three margaritas. (the limit there.) Went to the Avs game. I know I had a great time, but I'm running a little slow today. And my foot hurts.

Now I know why I drink tequila like once a year - it totally kicks my ass.

Our company Holiday Party is this Saturday. This photo was taken at last year's party. I enjoyed a little too much goose and juice during cocktail hour.

It is so not cool that it is this cold. I can't even fathom the thought of shoveling my driveway. I just drive into the garage and shut it. My neighbors love me. ;-)

In other news, I'm ready for this cold snap to be over, I'm ready for this week to be over and I'm ready for the holiday season to be over.

Had pickles at lunch yesterday, and I'm so wanting them again today. I've been on such a pickle-loving spree these past few months. Usually I eat to many and get over it, but not this time.

A joke told by Ric this morning...

Q: How do you catch a polar bear?

A: You cut a hole in the ice and put peas all around it....then when the polar bear comes to take a pea, you kick him in the icehole.

Hudson's One Year Anniversary

One year ago today Hudson became my little Hudson bear. :-) (Hudson was adopted from the Boulder Humane Society.) A year has flown by. He is such a sweetheart! Even though he is crazy and challenging sometimes, I love him so very, very much and appreciate his undying happiness.

I love you Hudson!!

"Wherever you are, no matter how far, you're always near a Hershey's Bar! Hersheys' Choc-o-late, Hershey's Choc-o-late it's a Hershey's Choc-o-late World"

Woke up and ate Hershey Kisses. It was Gloooooooorious!

p.s. That song is from a ride at Hershey Park in Harrisburg, PA that I remember from when I was little. I don't know if that ride still exists, but I used to love going on it cuz they pumped chocolate smell into it.

You Get What You Need
  • I don't like either of today's Friday Fives so I'm gonna skip it this week. Or I guess I could make up my own. Or you could ask me somethin'.

  • I gave up chocolate and cheese this week. I think I miss the chocolate more than the cheese. I daydream about hot chocolate, chocolate cake, Hershey kisses and pizza.

  • I don't think I'm going to put my Christmas decorations out.

  • Still haven't started any Christmas shopping.

  • I hate shopping.

  • I'm having a bad self-esteem day.

  • I want to be first string. Banana pancakes.

  • I need to pluck my eyebrows in a bad way.

  • Hell, I could use an extreme makeover.

  • Work sucks. I want to be independently wealthy.

  • I need to get my snowboard tuned.

  • Please let everything get better for everyone. We're all tired of the yuck.
