Tagged - My Ideal Partner

I've been tagged by MG to complete this little exercise.

List 8 attributes of the perfect partner. Tag 8 victims to join this game & leave a comment on a post letting them know they’ve been tagged. If tagged before, no need to contribute.
  1. Be Attracted To/Into Me Please, please, please be into me. That's all I really want. I don't want you just kind of into me, and I don't want to be your fall-back plan when there's nothing better to do. I want you to *want* to be with me. Oh god, and I want you to think I'm attractive. And tell me.

  2. Intelligent. Head-spiningly so. Your brain has to be big. Talk to me, teach me things, challenge me.

  3. Sense of Humor. Find the same kind of things funny: so a sense of humor that runs from low-brow to intellectual is sooooo necessary.

  4. Funny. Not the same as sense of humor. Make me laugh. A lot. If you have a silly/goofy side, even better.

  5. Independent/Confident. Have your shit together; have your things, let me have mine.

  6. Easy Going. There's nothing cooler than someone who doesn't get caught up in drama. I'm not looking for lazy, but rather a laid-back, calm, yet in-control disposition.

  7. Honest/Loyal/Caring. Always be truthful, loyal, and give a crap about the relationship. It's really not that hard.

  8. Outdoorsy/Adventurous/Spontaneous Be into all different outdoor activities, get my butt off the couch every once in a while. Sports. Recreation. Travel. Explore.

I tag no one. :-) This one is a hard one - if you do want to do it, leave me a comment and I'll come check out your list.

It's back! I have been battling insomnia for almost a year now. It went away for a few months and it was wonderful, but it's baaaaaack. I was updating a photo album when I came across a looseleaf with a bunch of my old writing. I found a poem that I wrote in 1996 rather appropriate for all the lying awake I've been doing these days:

Brain Ooze

Sleep is just not happening
And I roll from side to side
Listening to my shoulder dislocate
And relocate.
Avoiding the thoughts that keep
Chasing me.
Smelling sleep in my pillows
How I long to swim in that smell.
I can't do the counting sheep thing
Because I just can't picture it and
I feel my brain begin to ooze
Spilling out all over like that time
When I tried to learn how to
Play chess.
I close my eyes and see those orange speckles
That pass by in groups
Through the geometric backdrop of my
My body aches as the watchful clock reminds
Me of how asleep I should be.
I fluff my pillows to surround me in
The smell of sleep because
It's as close as I'm going to get.

Creepy Old Lady

I don't write a lot about my personal life on this blog...and for good reason. But, I have to tell you about something that I feel I've been sort of glossing over here for a while. I'm a little concerned about myself. I've let someone into my heart that I think I'm just too old for. Damn that Raven and her wacky capers, colorful sets and goofball friends. I admit it, I record it daily. And I pretty much watch at least one episode a day. I'm getting sad that pretty soon I'll have seen them all. What am I supposed to do then???

Alcohol consumption limit: Me > You

Super crazy ASP and SQL ninja-like skillz: You > Me

Love for stupid t-shirts: You = Me

A piece of "Pocket Sun"

"Peel the skin of love and lay it on me
My window wide and open
Free fall from the moon
My earth, my friend will catch me

I'm a carbonator
I'm the fizz for all i want to be
I'll free the sword
I'm the killer for all that hurts in me

In my evergreen day, in my beautiful day
In my element day, i know i can feel the dawn
In my evergreen day, in my beautiful day
I know i can feel the dawn

Brighter Than Sunshine

It's been one of those days where I've been kind of analytical about everything. Like how bad it sucks when someone diappoints you. But then, there's the others who surprise your pants off -- one of those can make up for 1,000 disappointers.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

I keep listening to the entire CD over and over in my car (for months now), but I tend to repeat this one and the "Banana Pancakes" one more often than the others. I've got need to let me know.

Breakdown - Jack Johnson

I hope this old train breaks down then I could take a walk around
See what there is to see, time is just a melody
With all the people in the street walking fast as their feet
Can take them, I just roll through town
And though my window’s got a view, well the frame I’m looking through
Seems to have no concern for now
So for now I

I need this here old train to breakdown
Oh please just let me please just breakdown

Well this engine screams out loud, centipede going to crawl westbound
So I don’t even make a sound cause it’s going to sting me when I leave this town
And all the people in the street that I’ll never get to meet
If these tracks don’t bend somehow
And I got no time that I got to get to where I don’t need to be
So I

I need this here old train to breakdown
Oh please just let me please just breakdown

I want to break on down
But I can’t stop now
Let me break on down

But you can’t stop nothing if you got no control
Of the thoughts in your mind that you kept and you know
That you don’t know nothing but you don’t need to know
The wisdom’s in the trees not the glass windows
You can’t stop wishing if you don’t let go
Of the things that you find and you lose and you know
You keep on rolling, put the moment on hold
Because the frame’s too bright, so put the blinds down low

I need this here old train to breakdown
Oh please just let me please just breakdown

I got to break on down
But I can’t stop now

Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding

Everytime I hear about how great "Brokeback Mountain" is, I can't help but think about that South Park where they had a mountain film festival and all the movies were about Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding.

I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone had it right all along. :-)

Dear Pizza,

Dear Heather,

Pizza is just not what you should be having right about now. How about a nice salad?

Your thighs

Dear Thighs,

Suck it.

How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

Got the pups back yesterday. I missed their faces, I couldn't stop kissing their cute puppy heads. They got me through some tough weeks back in December and I've really missed them these past couple of weeks. It was so hard to pull out of the driveway with their sad faces watching me from the sidelight of the front door. I can't wait to get home and see them. :-)

Old Lady in the Cube

Came to work today and my cool-ass co-workers decorated my cube. There was also huge heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie that was waiting for me too! I've gotten a bunch of cards, flowers and some money too!! I'm not huge on my birthday, but all these gestures really mean a lot. I'm actually kind of getting into my birthday this time. Thanks everyone! You all ROCK!

Weekend Doings
  • Saw Grandma's Boy on Friday night. It was hilarious.
  • Went for a 5-mile walk on Saturday. Gorgeous.
  • Went to a Baby Shower on Saturday afternoon. Had to sit outside with the boys during the present opening. I just can't do the oooh and ahhhh thing.Babies are not my thing. Had a blast hanging with everyone sipping cocktails, though.
  • Bought myself a pretty/fun pair of strappy black Steve Madden's when shopping for the baby shower gifts.
  • Wore said shoes to baby shower.
  • Yes, the weather was that nice on January 7th!!! I bet it was like 70 degrees.
  • Walked to Hollywood Video this afternoon to return movies. (about 1.5 miles)
  • Proceeded to walk for another 2 hours. (probably about 10 miles) Gorgeous at first, but then cold.
  • Got a lot of thinkin' in while walking. :-)
  • Did some yoga.
  • Feeling positive.
  • Getting Tivo installed tomorrow....the DirecTV lady or dude should be here between 8am-noon. According to everyone, my life will never be the same.
  • I still have so many things on my to-do list.
  • Three days 'til I'm older.
